Rare + Stitch is a fashion brand inspired by our daughter, Zara. Zara has a rare genetic disorder causing drug resistant epilepsy, cerebral palsy and global developmental delay. Her speech, communication, mobility, and intellectual horsepower is unique. It is our hope to drive awareness to the depths of communication and expression beyond words while creating a brand that may serve as meaningful employment & a creative outlet. We learned from Zara that just because you don’t look like or use words like everyone else, doesn’t mean you’re not intelligent, it doesn’t mean your voice doesn’t matter, and it definitely doesn’t mean you don’t have something to share with the world…maybe even teach it a thing or two. Every piece is inspired by an expression Zara uses to connect with the world.
